Patriotic Thank You For Your Hospitality with MFT Stamps No Place Like Home

Hey guys! I’m playing with both the My Favorite Things sketch and color challenges with this patriotic thank you card. Perfect way to thank your hosts if you are visiting for the Fourth of July Holiday!

I used a variety of supplies from My Favorite Things to create my card — stamps, dies, cardstock & ink. I LOVE all of MFT stitched die-namics! For this card I used the stitched rectangles and the stitched heart die-namics as well as the Home Sweet Home die-namics to create the sweet little house.

TIP:  Use a fine tip glue pen to assemble the house — some of the elements are so small that just a couple of dots of glue did the trick.

Using my MISTI, I stamped the sentiment directly on the white stitched rectangle before attaching the heart and house. As a finishing touch I added some fun silver, red and blue sequins.

TIP:  To avoid adding to much “bulk” to your card, turn the blue rectangle into a frame and nestle the white sentiment piece inside of it.

Create the frame by cutting out the center of the blue rectangle with the same die used to cut out the white rectangle. Then replace the blue center with the white sentiment piece…it fits perfectly!

Taylored Expressions Rainboot Bouquet Thank You Card

Taylored Expressions Rainboot Bouquet Handmade Card

Hey guys! Happy Spring! It’s such a nice sunny day here in Florida…I’ve been so lucky to be able to share my home (and the sunshine) these last few weeks with some of my family from upstate New York. I’m glad they were able to enjoy the sand and sun before returning two days before a blizzard snowed them in at home.

Today’s card is a reminder that Spring is here! It was created with the Rainboot Bouquet stamp set and matching die from Taylored Expressions — a great stamp set for Spring and Summer!

I stamped the rainboot image in Memento Black Ink on Copic X-Press cardstock and cut it out with the matching die. Then I colored it in with Copic markers. I stamped the sentiment on a stitched oval which I cut out with My Favorite Things Die-Namics.

TIP: Use the Misti Precision Stamping tool for perfect placement of your stamped images. I recently purchased my Misti and I LOVE it! Besides perfect placement, you are able to re-stamp over an image when you don’t get a complete stamp the first time.

For the background of my card, I mounted some retired Stampin’ Up! designer paper onto a mat layer of black cardstock. I almost always use a 4″ x 5.25″ mat layer on my A2 cards — I like the 1/8″ border that size mat gives.

To finish off my card I added some iridescent sequins which I attach with Micro Glue Dots. The micro glue dots are the perfect size for attaching sequins and other tiny embellishments.

I’ve entered today’s card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge — A “Bit O’Green”  The pretty tulips bring a bit o’green to remind everyone digging out from all of the recent snowfall, that Spring is here and warmer weather is just around the corner. 🙂

And the 30 Day Coloring Challenge — Even though I’m not able to color everyday the challenge encourages me to color whenever I can.

Stitched Flowers, Wonky Windows & Many Thanks: MFT Challenge

Hey guys! I have another card for you made with the My Favorite Things All Occasion Sentiments stamps and Stitched Flowers Die-namics. Can you tell these have become two of my favorite crafty items. 🙂

My card today was inspired by the My Favorite Things Color Challenge. I didn’t have the specific colors used in the challenge so I substituted with some Stampin’ Up! cardstock that I had on hand and I think match pretty closely: Emerald Envy, Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder and Flirty Flamingo.

I stamped the “many thanks” sentiment in the lower right corner of  5″ x 3.75″ piece of 80lb white cardstock and then mounted the stamped layer onto a slightly larger mat layer (5.25″ x 4″) of green cardstock. Then I attached them to my card base made from 110lb white cardstock.

TIP:  I like to use the 110lb cardstock for the base of my cards and 80lb for layers…the heavier base gives my cards the support they need and the 80lb layers keeps them from becoming too heavy.

Once I had the “bones” of my card done, I added a wonky frame cut with the My Favorite Things Peek A Boo Wonky Window Die-namics and flowers cut with the My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers Die-namics.

TIP: To create the frame I placed the smaller wonky window die inside of the larger die and ran them both through the Big Shot at the same time.

I finished off my card with some iridescent sequins which I attach with micro glue dots.
