Don’t Forget to Play the Tag You’re It Challenge

Stampin' Up! Build A Birthday Tag for Tag You're It Challenge

Hey Guys! Just a reminder to hop over to the Tag You’re It Challenge blog and play along. The linky for this round closes at 9:00am on Wednesday, Nov 9th.

As guest designer, I’ve made a second tag for this challenge inspired by Featured Artist Rubeena Naz‘s gorgeous birthday tag.

My Take on the Challenge:

In keeping with the birthday theme, I stamped by tag with Stampin’ Up! Build a Birthday stamp. To give it a little bling I added some rhinestones to the cake stand and a few more scattered about. Then, just like Rubeena, I backed my tag with some glitzy cardstock.

The pom pom trim on my tag was from Stampin’ Up! and retired a while ago but just in case you really love it, I found some trim that looks very similar on Amazon (see supply list).

Guest Designer – Tag You’re It Challenge #59

Tag You're It - Guest Designer Birthday Tag

I am so excited! This week I was invited to be the guest designer over at the Tag You’re it Challenge. The inspiration for this week’s challenge is a gorgeous, watercolor birthday tag by Featured Artist Rubeena Naz.

Using Rubeena’s tag as inspiration, I picked out the key features to use in my tag — birthday theme, watercolor and gold glitter.

Watercoloring:

The cupcake is from Stampin’ Up! Sprinkles of Life stamp set. I stamped the outline images on watercolor paper using Stampin’ Up! Classic ink which is a water based die ink and perfect for watercoloring. Then, using a watercolor brush pen and my ink pads,  I colored in my images and added a background.

When everything was dry, I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink to be sure it wouldn’t bleed.

TIP: For more instructions on using SU ink pads for watercoloring see this post.

Bringing in the Gold:

To bring in the gold from the inspiration tag, I added a scallop border backed with gold glitter cardstock to the bottom of my tag and a metallic gold embellishment to the little flower topping the cupcake.

Then I combined metallic gold ribbon and Calypso Coral seam binding to string my tag and bring in a little more bling.

I’d love to see your take on this challenge! Why don’t you come on over to the the Tag You’re It Challenge blog and play along with the fun! Maybe you’ll get picked as the next guest designer! 😉
