Sneak Peek #2 (and Mini Cardstock Review)

Hey Guys! It’s getting closer! 11 more days until Christmas Card Camp. Today I am ordering the cardstock and sharing Sneak Peek #2 with you!

Simple but Blingy:

To create today’s card, I combined the Reverse Confetti Cuts Holly dies with My Favorite Things Hand Lettered Christmas stamp set. I’m still trying to keep it relatively simple but adding some glittery bling — I found some gold glittered sequins at Michael’s this weekend and knew I would have to add them to this card!

Holly Confetti Cuts:

The Holly Confetti Cuts die set is great! It comes with two different sized leaves that are stitched down the middle — love it!  But what’s really awesome are the berry dies.

There is one die with all three berries merged together that you use as a background. Then there are 2 individual berry dies (one with a highlight cut out and one solid) that you layer on top of the background. I love this! It adds so much dimension! I used red cardstock for the background of my berries and then I added my individual berries in red glitter. You could also use white cardstock for the background and layer it with red berries for a nice contrast.

Hand Lettered Christmas:

My sentiment is from My Favorite Things Hand Lettered Christmas – I love the font as well as the size of the sentiments. The sentiments are big enough to act as the centerpiece of the card which can make things so easy. For a quick card, just stamp your sentiment, add a little decoration and you’re good to go!

To dress my card up a little, I stamped the sentiment on a stitched oval that I cut out with My Favorite Things Inside Out Oval Die-namics. It’s subtle but it adds detail.

SUPPLIES USED TO MAKE TODAY’S CARD:

Links to supplies used to create today’s project are provided for your convenience. Where available, compensated affiliate links have been used.  This means I receive a small commission when products are purchased through those links here on my blog. This costs you nothing extra and helps me afford to share my crafty creations with you. You can read more about this on my disclosure page.  Thank you — I really appreciate your support!

NOTE: (a mini cardstock review)

Today I am ordering my red cardstock from Paper and More. They have great quality 100lb cardstock in colors that are very similar to My Favorite Things, the prices are really good and the shipping is super cheap!

Many of the colors are available in multiple sizes: 4 bar, 5 x 7, 8 1/2 x 11, 12 x 12, 11 x 17.  The 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock comes in packages of 100, which for Christmas Card camp is perfect since I need so much.  The 12 x 12 comes in packs of 50.

Note on the Red Cardstock:  Paper and More Cherry Red and MFT Stamps Wild Cherry are virtually identical. The color is also almost identical to Stampin’ Up! Real Red although Stampin’ Up!’s cardstock is not as thick.

Note on the White Cardstock: Paper and More 100lb Classic White cardstock is the same color as Stampin’ Up! Whisper White and MFT Stamps Smooth White. Both Paper and More and MFT Stamps are 100lb — much sturdier than SU — making them better for card bases.  SU Whisper White and MFT Stamps Smooth White seemed a bit smoother and slightly better to stamp on although all three gave a very clear stamped image. (I will post pictures in a week or so with a complete review of these 3 cardstocks)

Happy Crafting!
