A Merry and Bright Christmas Tag

Today I am playing along with Tag You’re It Challenge #61. I love the inspiration tag by featured artist Loll Thompson. The gorgeous background and glittered pine trees have such a peaceful winter feel. Here is Loll’s inspiration tag along with my take on the challenge.

I cut the base of my tag from 100# white cardstock using the Reverse Confetti Gift Card Holder Tag die. I Love this die set! It makes such a beautifully shaped tag and you can use it make gift card holder tags or regular tags.

After I cut my tag, I used sponge daubers to swirl and blend my inks to re-create Loll’s background. Then, I added in the falling snow with a chalk marker. The snow drifts were cut using My Favorite Things Stitched Snowdrift Dies. I also used MFT dies that I received free with a $60 purchase in October to cut my trees from white glitter cardstock.

Once I had my tag put together, I used a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter brush pen to add glitter to some of the falling snow and to the tops of the snow drifts.  Love! Love! Love! Wink of Stella!

A Jolly Holly Ombre Christmas Tag

Today I’m joining in with Tag You’re it Challenge #60. The inspiration tag by Diane Jaquay is a gorgeous thankful tag with an embossed ombre background.

My Take on the Challenge:

Here is Diane’s Tag as well as my take on her tag. I decided to switch it up a bit and go with a Christmas themed tag as opposed to Diane’s thankful theme.

Embossed Ombre Background:

Like Diane, I created an embossed, ombre background for my tag.

I stamped the holly image from My Favorite Things Gift Tag Greetings stamp set with Versa Ink on heavy white cardstock and embossed them with white embossing powder and a heat tool.

Once the embossing was done, I used sponge daubers to blend Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler and Real Red ink in an ombre effect. Starting with Real Red, I inked up my sponge dauber by tapping it on my ink pad. Then with a swirling motion, I worked my way down the tag adding more ink for a deeper color as I moved down. Then I started on the bottom with Cherry Cobbler ink swirling and blending as I worked my way up. Once I had a nice ombre effect, I used a paper towel to wipe the excess ink from my embossed images.

Embellishing:

To embellish my tag, I cut the ornament, holly and tag hanger using Reverse Confetti dies. To create a bit of a 3D effect with the ornament I cut one from MFT Electric Red card stock and one from Bubblegum Pink and layered them slightly staggered. Then I stamped the “For You” from My Favorite Things Gift Tag Greetings set in SU Cherry Cobbler Ink.
